The first edition of the Summer School Pier Paolo Pasolini and his engagement in the Italian culture of his time will be held from the 13th to the 15th September at the Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Centre in Casarsa della Delizia (Pordenone). The school is a unique opportunity to study and exchange views with international scholars for further exploration of the work by Pier Paolo Pasolini through a higher education course on the subject of intellectual engagement in literature, cinema and news reporting.

The school is organized by the Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Centre of Casarsa della Delizia, and is affiliated to the Équipe Littérature et Culture Italiennes (ELCI) of the Sorbonne University, to the Department of Humanities and cultural heritage of the University of Udine, the Department of Humanities of the University of Trieste, the Department of Humanities of the University Ca’ Foscari of Venice, the Italian Society for the study of Literary Modernity (MOD), and is supported by the region of Friuli Venezia Giulia, the Municipality of Casarsa della Delizia and the Friuli Foundation.

The lectures are mainly aimed at university students, undergraduates and post-graduates of all nationalities who are able to prove their knowledge of the Italian language.

The study programme is divided into six sessions and includes two didactic workshops, two evenings devoted to cinema, theatre and meetings with some critics, as well as an excursion to the main Pasolini places in Friuli. Each session will have two lectures of one and a half hours given by Italian and international specialists among whom are Marco Antonio Bazzocchi (University of Bologna), Luciano De Giusti (University of Trieste), Davide Luglio (Sorbonne University), Ricciarda Ricorda (University Ca’ Foscari Venice), Alessandro De Puppo (University of Udine), Emanuela Patti (Royal Holloway – University of London), Raoul Kirchmayr (University of Trieste), Gianluca Picconi (University of Genoa), Antonio Tricomi (University of Urbino). The didactic workshops will be led by the coordinators of the school Paolo Desogus (Sorbonne University) and Lisa Gasparotto (University of Milan-Bicocca).

To take part you need to send in your application by the 15th of July 2018. The selected applicants, up to a maximum of 20, will receive a confirmation by the 30th of July and at the same time will be asked to pay their registration fee by the 15th of August.

The registration fee is 150 euros and includes registration and hospitality (three lunches, two dinners and overnight stay at the Hotel Al Posta at Casarsa della Delizia, Pordenone). The travel expenses will be borne by each student.

To submit your application please send an e-mail to the following address info@centrostudipierpaolopasolinicasarsa.it indicating your name, surname, and university, together with a curriculum vitae and a motivation letter (max 2000 characters); you should also report the subject of your research under way, the name of your supervisor (in the case of a graduate dissertation) and of your tutor (in the case of a Ph.D. dissertation).

Each participant will receive a certificate of attendance issued by the Pier Paolo Pasolini Study Centre for the purpose of your cv.
